About the Author
Thomas Leroy Banks was born on a Sunday morning at home in Midlothian, Virginia. Raised in a small rural community called Robius, he was the last of six children born to a Baptist minister and his loving quilt making wife. He learned Bible stories, nursery rhymes and fairy tales as part of his growing up experience with parents who read bedtime stories as part of their entertainment. He enjoyed school and loved writing and doodling.

He wrote his first poem for his graduation year book, called "The Memories of the Class of '59".

It was not until retirement that he rediscovered his talent for writing and drawing. He retired to his home state in Virginia. There, amid the oaks and pines, he renewed his love for nature, photography, writing poetry and the writing of short stories and novels.

Cartoons and animated stories about animals have always been of interest to him from the early comics to the daily newspaper comics and Sunday's special editions.

Storytelling has always been a part of his life. Home, Church and School all made contributions to his understanding of a well told story. Both his mother and father were wonderful storytelers.

After encouragement from his wife, Charlie, and sister, Charlottle Wood, he decided to write a book about animals and their relationship with humans. This is the first of many books for the future.

He wishes to encourage others to use their God given ability and imagination to bring joy to young and old alike. He was always suggesting to others to write a book and he is now glad that he was blessed to set an example and do it himself, first.
